Remember that kids put more attention on animation. They are more interested on having fun so it is best for a teacher to teach them write letters in a fun way. Teachers may have noticed that when children are just being told on what to do, they may not do it right out of lack of interest. Remember that with the so many worksheets available, choose one that is best suited for a certain lesson. Plan ahead what type of worksheet to use for a given day, depending on what you plan to teach.
Kindergarten ABC worksheets should have different activities to help children identify the various letters of the alphabet. The activities may involve very simple things like coloring, ticking, drawing a line to match items etc. Using attractive illustrations and cartoon characters would make it more fun for children. The activities should be graded, i.e initial activities should be very simple and easy (but should be fun with good pictures etc, so as to interest the child); later worksheets may involve a little bit more work.
After being read to for a year or so, children will want and even pretend to be reading the words themselves. Usually they have picked up a word or two by memory, and it will be a good time to introduce flash cards. Preschoolers can handle about 3 flashcards at a time and once they have a good comprehension of those 3, then 2 more can be added. This method is called "chunking" and is very successful. Repetition is important, and testing the meaning of the word in conversation with the child.
